Set up Google Authenticator

Phone app or browser extension, set up in about 3 minutes.

For
Everyone (required)
Where
Profile & Security → Google Authenticator

What it is

Google Authenticator shows a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds. You enter it when logging in and paying, so a stolen password alone cannot move your money.

Set up on your phone

  1. 1Install “Google Authenticator” from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
  2. 2On your computer, open Profile & Security → Google Authenticator and start setup.
  3. 3In the app tap “+” → “Scan a QR code” and scan the code on screen.
  4. 4Enter the 6-digit code from the app and click “Verify and save”.
  5. 5Save the 8 backup codes shown once with “Download backup codes”, then confirm.

No phone: browser extension

There is no official web version. You can use the Authenticator browser extension (publisher authenticator.cc); its codes work the same way.

  1. 1Install “Authenticator” from the Chrome Web Store, Edge Add-ons or Firefox Add-ons.
  2. 2Pin it to the toolbar from the puzzle-piece menu.
  3. 3Open the setup page, use the extension’s scan button to select the QR code, or copy the key and add it manually.
  4. 4Enter the 6-digit code, save, and keep your backup codes.

New or lost phone

  • New phone: click “Change authenticator”, verify with your password and payment PIN, then set it up again.
  • Lost phone: log in with a backup code; if you have none, request a reset on the setup page for manual review.
  • Sub-accounts: ask the main account to reset it under Team.

Never share the QR code, key or backup codes — not even with support. If codes keep failing, turn on automatic time on your phone.
